PURPOSE: A location management server and calculation method thereof are provided to accurately calculate the location of a portable terminal by comparing upper node station information with a round trip delay value. CONSTITUTION: A location management server compartmentalizes geographical coordinates as a grid unit(S1). When a communication signal is received from a portable terminal, the location management server compares the RTD(Round Trip Delay) value of an upper node station for the communication signal with the feature information of the stored grid unit(S5, S7). The location management server calculates the location information of the portable terminal through the location data of the determined grid unit(S9).
