The device (1) has a connector (13) provided for connecting a fluid source i.e. compressed gas source, and a supply device (14) provided for supplying a dental instrument (7) with cleaning-or caring agent e.g. hot water. An electro-dynamic converter (15) is operated by the fluid and linked with the connector for generation of electrical energy, where a control device (16) i.e. microcomputer, sensors (17-20) and a distributor unit (22) i.e. valve block, are supplied with electrical energy that is produced by the electro-dynamic converter. A storage unit (45) is provided for storing the energy. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating the cleaning-or caring device.
