<p>(I) is polymerised in the pres. of an alkaline catalyst and CO2, esp. by reacting the (I) with less than the stoichiometric amt. of NaOH, KOH, NaOMe or KOMe to give an alkali metal pyrrolidonate (II), removing water formed to give an anhydrous soln. of (II) in (I), and bubbling CO2 through the soln. Products are linear polyamides [-NH(CH2)3-CO-]n useful for the prodn. of films, fibres, etc. with hydrophilic properties similar to cotton and silk.</p> |
