The invention relates to a SIM card reader comprising a housing into which a tray containing a SIM card can be inserted, in the direction of insertion, into a reading position of the SIM card. Feeding means can be used to make the tray retract independently into the SIM card reader and lock (or fix) the tray once it has covered a defined distance in the direction of insertion.
