PURPOSE: A web-based object recognizing apparatus and a method thereof are provided to search images on the web primarily by using common sense information about an object and filter the images secondarily. CONSTITUTION: A web-based object recognizing apparatus comprises a code word database(10), a web image searching part(20), an object model generating unit(30) and an object recognition unit(40). Code words about features extracted from images of various objects are stored in the code word database. The web image searching part searches an image about a recognized object on the web. The object model generating unit generates a model for recognizing an object by extracting code words similar to the features of the search objects. The object recognition unit recognizes the object from an input image.
