The method involves determining a position of a container (S31) within a cooking plane of a cook top. The determined position is transposed (S32) in a coordinate system associated with a display panel. The transposed position adjusted to form a threshold distance is formed between a graphical object representing another container and an edge of a display surface of the panel and/or position of another graphical object representing the former container. Distance between the former and the latter graphical objects corresponds to center of gravity of the graphical objects. The positions are adjusted by determining distances (S33) between the objects and/or distance between the former object and/or the display surface edge, comparing the determined distances (S34) and displacing the transposed positions (S35). An independent claim is also included for a cooktop comprising a heating unit.
