A motor drive device is provided to effectively reconstitute 3-phase current through an inexpensive current detecting unit by securing a minimum current reconstitution time. An inverter(30) supplies 3-phase current to each phase terminal of a 3-phase motor according to a drive signal. A current detecting unit(50) detects current to be input to each phase terminal. A margin time computing unit(60) computes a margin time corresponding to an off period of the drive signal based on a frequency of the drive signal. A controller(70) stores a current reconstitution time required to detect the current, and changes the drive signal if the margin time is shorter than the current reconstitution time.
