PURPOSE: A device for attenuating the stereoscopic effect of a stereoscopic image and a method thereof are provided to attenuate the stereoscopic effect of an object when the object is displayed by overlapping the edge of a display screen. CONSTITUTION: When a stereoscopic image is generated by a graphic processing unit(130), a control unit(100) extracts a target object for attenuating the stereoscopic effect from at least one or more objects. The control unit calculates an attenuation degree of stereoscopic effect corresponding to at least one or more object locations. The control unit applies the calculated attenuation degree of stereoscopic effect to an extracted object by the control of a stereoscopic effect attenuating unit(150).
