The invention relates to compounds of the general formula (I) Lu3-x-z AxAl5-y-zScyO12: Mnz Caz where A stands for Y, Gd or Tb, x stands for a value from the range from 0 to 2.90, y stands for a value from the range from 0 to 0.50 and z stands for a value from the range from 0.005 to 0.05, and also to a process for preparing these phosphors and to their use as conversion phosphors and/or in luminescent agents.
