The device has three brush units provided on a side of a material web (1). The web is guided from one unit into an intermediate space of the other two units such that an effective contact surface is formed on each brush unit. Vibration movement is transferred to downwardly aligned bundles of bristles that are in contact with the material web. Vibration units (3, 4) outwardly apply lateral forces by the movement of the bundles. Each bristle exhibits inclination ranging between 18 and 37 degree. The contact surface between the web and the bundles extends over entire material web width.
