<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a bearing device for wheels, which has improved sealing performance and consequently maintains bearing performance for a long period of time. <P>SOLUTION: The bearing device includes a dust cover 18 which is mounted on a wheel mounting flange 6 and is formed in a ring shape by pressing an anti-rust steel plate. The dust cover 18 includes: a fitting part 18a to be press-fitted to an outer diameter of the wheel mounting flange 6; a collar part 18b which is bent radially inward from the fitting part 18a and is in close contact with an inner side face 6c of the wheel mounting flange 6; and a cylindrical extension part 18c which axially extends from the collar part 18b and covers the outer diameter portion of an outer side of an outer member 2. Since a leading end of the extension part 18c faces a side face 19 of a knuckle K with a small axial-direction gap and a labyrinth seal 20 is constituted, even if mud water enters the dust cover, the mud water falls to a road side before reaching an outer side seal, thereby improving mud water proof performance. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
