PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a membrane-electrode assembly intermediate, a membrane-electrode assembly, a solid polymer fuel cell, and a method for manufacturing the membrane-electrode assembly intermediate and the membrane-electrode assembly which do not require accurate positioning.

SOLUTION: The membrane-electrode assembly intermediate comprises: a base sheet; a frame-shaped gasket provided on one surface of the base sheet and having an opening formed therein; a first conductive porous base formed on the base sheet in the opening; a first catalyst layer formed on the first conductive porous base in the opening; an electrolyte membrane formed on the first catalyst layer in the opening; and a second catalyst layer formed on the electrolyte membrane in the opening.
