<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To bury excrement in a chipped treatment material reliably. <P>SOLUTION: An apparatus 20 for treating excrement includes: a container 21 formed of rigid members; a deformable treatment bag 30 held inside the container 21 while an upper surface side opening 23 of the container 21 is closed; the chipped treatment material 32 held inside the treatment bag 30; a closing member 27 provided so as to close a lower surface side opening 28 of the container 21 and configured to be deformed so as to enter the container 21; and a pushing up member 35 partially raising up the bottom of the treatment bag 30 via the closing member 27.
