<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a protection cover structure of a slide detection apparatus for a vehicle seat which preferably prevents magnetic foreign matters from adhering to a magnetic detector. <P>SOLUTION: The slide detection apparatus for a vehicle seat detects a slide state of the vehicle seat with the magnetic detector 51 which is provided at a movable rail 41 side of a fixed rail 31 and the movable rail 41, and an object 55 to be detected provided at the fixed rail 31 side. In the slide detection apparatus for a vehicle seat, a protection cover 60 is provided at the movable rail 41 and covers and protects the magnetic detector 51. The protection cover 60 integrally includes a side cover 62 which covers a side of the magnetic detector 51, and a cover 63 for a detection part which covers a detection part 52 of the magnetic detector 51.
