<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To make smaller a gap between an inner side face of a window part and a light source by inserting a spacer inside a housing part and realize down-sizing of a system and expansion of a light distribution angle of light of the light source. <P>SOLUTION: An explosion-proof container 100 of this lighting system houses a light source substrate 31 in which an LED 30 being a light source is mounted inside a housing part 10 of which at least one side face is opened as an opening part 12, a window part 11 communicating with the housing part 10 is formed on a front face 1A, a glass sheet 3 and a spacer 50 are provided, and a step part 20 is formed in the housing part 10. An inner side face of the glass sheet 3 is in contact with an entire circumference of an edge part of the window part 11 and the LED 30 housed in the housing part 10 faces the inner side face. The spacer 50 is contact with a rear face of the light source substrate 31 and has a thickness almost equivalent to a thickness D of the circumferential part of the window part 11.
