<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the consumption of liquid while recovering ejecting characteristics of the liquid. <P>SOLUTION: Four inkjet heads are arranged along the conveyance direction of a sheet. A sheet sensor is arranged in vicinities of the upstream side and the downstream side for the conveyance direction of the four inkjet heads and in the vicinity of the outlet of the sheet. A jam determination unit determines whether the sheet is jammed in a conveyance path from the result detected by each sheet sensor. When the jam determination unit determines that the sheet is jammed, an inkjet head that the sheet can oppose is specified from the result detected by each sheet sensor and a length for the conveyance direction of the sheet. When a maintenance operation is started after the jammed sheet is removed, ink is discharged from the ejecting port of the specified inkjet head without discharging ink from the ejecting port of the inkjet head which is not specified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
