The present invention relates to an electronic device and to a method for operating an electronic device. The electronic device and the method for operating the electronic device involve: acquiring destination information including a destination location and/or a time of arrival to the destination location; acquiring a current location and/or a current time; determining an application to execute in consideration of the acquired destination information, the current location, and the current time; and providing a user with desired information at a suitable time and place when the determined application is changed on the basis of changes in the current location and current time.
