<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a lock including a wedge for use in releasable fixation of separate components of an assembly to each other. <P>SOLUTION: A wedge can be used together with a spool. The wedge and the spool can be screwed to each other, and the wedge is driven into and outside an opening of an assembly without use of a hammer or a lever. The wedge and the spool are directly coupled together to dispense with a bolt, a washer, a nut and other components and make the number of components small. Thereby, a lock can be inexpensively manufactured and easily used, and hardly becomes inoperable due to the loss or breakage of the components or due to particulates or various difficulties encountered in a severe excavation environment. Additionally, the wedge is driven into the assembly to provide the degree of tightening required for intended operations, and/or the assembly can be re-tightened after suffering from abrasion while in use. Preferably, a latch assembly is provided to firmly hold the wedge in a predetermined location and to avoid the undesirable loss of the components while in use. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
