<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a burnishing method capable of simply setting a burnishing condition in a short time. <P>SOLUTION: A database including a burnishing amount Dv for a metal material 2, a pre-processing surface roughness value before the burnishing, the number N of revolutions of a roller 1, and a feed velocity f that is the velocity of the moving the roller 1 is prepared. Response curved surfaces for the post-processing surface roughness value after the burnishing and a dimensional variation amount Ds before and after the burnishing are prepared on the basis of the data stored in the database. The pre-processing dimension, the pre-processing surface roughness value, the number of revolutions N of the roller 1, and the feed velocity f of the metal material 2 are derived using the required surface roughness value and the required dimension on the basis of the response curved surfaces.
