<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To selectively acquire and separate a specific microorganism, and also reliably inactivate the microorganism. <P>SOLUTION: An apparatus has: a microorganism treatment unit 11, which causes a treatment liquid 2 containing the microorganism 1 to flow in a treatment tank 12, and which forms non-uniform electric field using electrodes 13A, 13B installed inside the treatment tank; a power supply 14 for applying a voltage between electrodes 13A, 13B and for selecting the frequency of the application voltage such that the dielectrophoretic force developed in the uneven part of electric field in the treatment tank may be increased for the specific microorganism; and an inactivating radiation source 21, which is installed in the interior of the treatment tank, and which applies an electromagnetic wave for inactivating the specific microorganism separated during a process in which the specific microorganism in the treatment liquid is acquired and separated by the electrode 13B owing to the dielectrophoretic force. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
