<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To maintain combustion performance in a cylinder after restarting an emergency diesel engine. <P>SOLUTION: In the emergency diesel engine 1 including a starting air system supplying compressed air 13 during starting, the compressed air 13 is supplied to a cylinder 3 from the starting air system after the operation of the diesel engine 1 is stopped. The combustion performance after the restart is thereby prevented from being affected by lubrication oil 28 sucked up into a combustion chamber due to a negative pressure in the cylinder 3 caused by the decrease in temperature after the operation stop. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
