A communication unit (111) of a wireless station (110) transmits a packet to a wireless station (120), and retransmits the packet in the case where a response signal with respect to the packet has not been received before a predetermined response time limit. An acquiring unit (112) acquires, from the wireless station (120), information of a transmission inhibition period, during which signal transmission from the wireless station (120) is inhibited. An extending unit (113) improves throughput of a network by extending the response time limit in the transmission inhibition period acquired by the acquiring unit (112) to a time when the transmission inhibition period ends or later.
