摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte battery having improved cycle life, and to provide an active material used in the battery and a production method thereof, as well as a battery pack. <P>SOLUTION: An active material contains a titanium oxide compound having a crystal structure of a monoclinic titanium dioxide and satisfies formula I: S<SB POS="POST">1</SB>/(S<SB POS="POST">2</SB>+S<SB POS="POST">3</SB>)&le;1.9 (I). In the formula, S<SB POS="POST">1</SB>is a peak area of a peak existing in a region of 1430 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>to 1460 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>in an infrared diffuse reflectance spectrum of the active material after adsorbing and desorbing pyridine, S<SB POS="POST">2</SB>is the peak area of a peak existing in a region of 1470 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>to 1500 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>in the infrared diffuse reflectance spectrum, and S<SB POS="POST">3</SB>is the peak area of a peak existing in a region of 1520 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>to 1560 cm<SP POS="POST">-1</SP>in the infrared diffuse reflectance spectrum. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT
