<p>Diimino-succinonitrile New cpd. of formula NC-C(=NH)-C(=NH)-CN may be prepared by reacting HNC and (CN)2 at -80 to +10 degrees C, between -15 and 0 degrees C, in the presence of a basic catalyst, KCN. The reaction is pref. carried out in the presence of an organic liquid free of Zerewitinoff-active hydrogen and inert to HCN and (CN)2. A suitable solvent is CH3CN. Diiminosuccinotrile may be used as a propellant in compositions containing also an oxidant.</p> |
