<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an expansion reading device in which the expansion reading device using an LCD monitor can be made compact and can be shipped while the LCD monitor is mounted to the body of the expansion reading device in conveyance, so that a visually impaired user does not need to perform difficult works such as mounting and wiring the LCD monitor, and simple package and reduction in conveyance cost are attained. <P>SOLUTION: An expansion reading device 1 of the invention comprises: a stage 2 for placing a material to be read; an imaging part 3 disposed over the stage 2 to take an image of the material to be read; and an LCD monitor 5 mounted to the imaging part 3 rotatably via a rotation part 4.
