<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To facilitate holding of a package having a small width, in a transfer device configured to hold both side surfaces of the package. <P>SOLUTION: The transfer device 29 includes a clamp unit 33 and a conveyor unit 32. The clamp unit 33 includes first and second base members 51a, 51b which are moved in an opening/closing direction to mutually separate and approach; first and second arms 53a, 53b; and a moving drive unit 61. The first and second arms 53a, 53b are moved forward and backward in a transfer direction relative to the first and second base members 51a, 51b to hold both side surfaces of the package. The first and second base members 51a, 51b are driven in the opening and closing direction. The moving drive unit 61 has first and second moving belts 78a, 78b disposed separately on the separating side in the opening/closing direction of the first and second base members 51a, 51b.
