PURPOSE: A marker for bone density and a method for predicting risk of osteoporosis and osteoporotic fracture using the same are provided to develop a kit for diagnosing the risk. CONSTITUTION: A marker for bone density is -36201A>G (rs2000708) which relates to the bone density of femur, -35302C>T (rs4940110) which relates to the bone density of lumbar vertebra, femur or -34952A>G (rs4940109) which relates to the bone density of lumbar vertebra in SNP of SMAD2 gene. The -36201A>G relates to bone density of femur.
