PROJECTION TYPE VIDEO DISPLAY DEVICE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a projection type video display device capable of cooling an inner portion and an outer portion of a lamp without branching a flow passage of cooling air and effectively cooling the outer portion of the lamp.

SOLUTION: A projector 1 comprises: a lamp 2 including an arc tube 21 and a reflector 22; and a body 10 provided with the lamp 2 therein. The reflector 22 includes an inner surface 22a reflecting light emitted by the arc tube 21, while the lamp 2 includes an inner portion 2a including the inner surface 22a of the reflector 22 and the arc tube 21 and an outer portion 2b without the inner surface 22a. In the body 10, an intake port 12a is formed. The projector 1 has a gas mixing structure for mixing cooling air cooling the inner portion 2a of the lamp 2 with gas sucked into the body 10 through the intake port 12a, and a cooling air guide structure for guiding the cooling air mixed with the gas by the gas mixing structure to the outer portion 2b of the lamp 2.
