<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To consistently manufacture a glass plate with the quality of its end faces being maintained when executing the grinding of the end faces of the glass plate at higher speed. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for manufacturing a glass plate, an end face of the glass plate is ground by rotating a grinding wheel while conveying the formed glass plate, and the dressing of abrasive grains of the grinding wheel is performed every time when the total grinding length of the end face of the glass plate exceeds the predetermined value. The abrasive grains of the grinding wheel consist of grown diamond, and a metal coat is provided on surfaces of the abrasive grains. In the grinding wheel, an alloy containing copper of ≥50 mass% is used for a bonding material for bonding the abrasive grains. The conveying speed of the glass plate is, for example, ≥10 m/minute, and the dressing of the grinding wheel is performed every time when the total length grinding length of the end face of the glass plate exceeds 500 m. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
