METHOD AND DEVICE FOR ADJUSTING START AND FINISH TIME OF BROADCAST PROGRAM RECORDING SCHEDULE

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a broadcast program recording overrun and underrun scheduling system with which a user can specify a time amount to be added and/or subtracted with regard to start and finish times of a recording schedule preset for a particular program.

SOLUTION: An on-screen program guide is displayed on a monitor or a television set for a viewer. From the program guide, the viewer uses a remote input device 1201 to select a particular broadcast program to be recorded and schedule the broadcast program to be recorded by inserting program information such as a program identifier, start and finish times, a storage duration and the like into a recording schedule database. The viewer specifies a time increment to be added or subtracted with regard to the recording start and/or the finish times of the particular program or a series of a program to adjust the scheduled recording start and/or finish times of the broadcast program in accordance with the change made by the viewer. After the viewer adjusts the recording schedule, the broadcast program is recorded onto a persistent storage device when the recording schedule indicates that it is time to start recording.
