The present invention relates to a Digital Right Management (DRM) service providing device and method. The device includes a Media Presentation Description (MPD) component unit for determining a DRM system required for each representation of content, which is provided through an adaptive streaming service; classifying the representations into at least one group according to a predetermined standard, and generating MPD that includes representation group information representing the classified groups and content protection information having information on DRM systems corresponding to the representation group information; and a communication unit for transmitting the MPD information to a user terminal that receives the content. Thus, the present invention defines groups on the basis of predetermined criteria for representations during an adaptive streaming service, and represents a plurality of systems required for a corresponding group as a necessary DRM system without repetitive DRM system expressions. Therefore, DRM service may be efficiently provided. Additionally, different security requirements according to various standards such as content type, content quality, content playing medium, etc., may be satisfied. |
