<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an efficient arithmetic encoder/decoder by reducing complexity of encoding/decoding algorithm. <P>SOLUTION: An arithmetic encoder 400 comprises: a probability estimator 410 that is for generating a probability estimate where each event of an event sequence 425 has an individual value, and generates the probability estimate according to context information corresponding to each event; and an encoding engine 415 that is connected to the probability estimator 410, generates an information sequence having zero or more bits according to each event and corresponding probability estimate, and encodes an event for notifying of the end of arithmetic encoding data in the information sequence by using a constant for sub-range interval independent of a range register value before encoding a slice ending signal. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2012,JPO&INPIT |
