A shuttle swell consists of a metal strip 4 backed by spring-loaded high inertia members 2, 3 which absorb most of the kinetic energy of the shuttle; a light spring-loaded member 25 then brings the shuttle to rest. The protrusion of the strip 4 into the shuttle under the action of the springs 6, 8, 9 is determined by an adjustable compression spring 5 acting endwise on the strip 4 to increase its curvature. |
