<p>Provided is a surface light source element, which is provided with a light source (1), and a light guide plate (2), which has light that has been emitted from the light source (1) inputted to one end surface (21), propagated therein, and outputted from one main surface (22) that orthogonally intersects the end surface (21). When a right-handed coordinate space composed of an X axis, a Y axis and a Z axis that orthogonally intersect with each other is considered in the light guide plate (2), the one end surface (21) constituting the input surface is substantially parallel to the YZ plane, the one main surface (22) constituting the output surface is substantially parallel to the XY plane, and is positioned further in the +Z direction than the other main surface (23), light outputted from the output surface (22) has one component out of a -Y direction component and a +Y direction component more than the other, and a luminous flux outputted from the output surface of the light guide plate, said luminous flux having the one component, is 55 % or more of the whole luminous flux output.</p> |
