<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide plain printing paper which is excellent in ink absorbency and satisfactory in the image water resistance of dye ink, image scuff resistance of pigment ink and printing irregularities, with respect to inkjet printing using aqueous dye ink and aqueous pigment ink while keeping offset printability. <P>SOLUTION: In the plain printing paper, a cationic resin and a polyvalent cation salt are adhered to a supporting body that is mainly composed of cellulose pulp and a calcium carbonate that serves as a filler within a range of the total amount of not smaller than 1.0 g/m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>to 5.0 g/m<SP POS="POST">2</SP>, and the mass ratio of the cationic resin to the polyvalent cation salt is from 0:100 to 90:10. Preferably, the mass ratio of the cationic resin to the polyvalent cation salt ranges from 10:90 to 80:20. The cationic resin is dimethylamine-epichlorohydrin polycondensate.
