<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To reduce the noise when starting a water-seal type vacuum pump. <P>SOLUTION: In a method for reducing the noise when starting a water-seal type vacuum pump, the feed of seal water of a water-seal type vacuum pump 2 in a casing 17 is stopped, and the water-seal type vacuum pump 2 is stopped after the feed stop of seal water into the casing 17 by the set time.
