<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve inconvenience of a conveyance route surface due to the generation of bubbles of an adhesive and pinholes around a projection part of a cover holding a transmission body forming the conveyance route surface of a body to be irradiated. <P>SOLUTION: A contact type image sensor includes: a light source for irradiating a conveyed body to be irradiated with light; a planar transmission body which is interposed in the irradiation route of the light from the light source and transmits the light; a lens body for converging reflected light reflected on the body to be irradiated through the transmission body; a light receiving part for receiving the light converged in the lens body; a sensor board for mounting the light receiving part; a housing for storing the light source, the lens body and the sensor board; a cover which is provided with an opening area in the inside, has the transmission body fitted in the opening area, and is fixed with the transmission body by filling an adhesive in a gap of a conveyance route surface of the transmission body where the body to be irradiated passes through; and projection parts of the cover abutted to a side face part of the transmission body on both sides of the opening area in the conveyance direction of the body to be irradiated through the transmission body.
