<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an gray ink capable of forming an image that has neutral color tone, is excellent in metamerism, ozone resistance and light resistance, and is suitable for inkjet recording; and to provide an inkjet recording method and an ink cartridge, which can form the excellent image by using the gray ink. <P>SOLUTION: The gray ink contains a plurality of pigments, a water-soluble organic solvent, and resin fine particles. The water-soluble organic solvent contains 1,2-alkane diol. The plurality of pigments each contains a carbon black and a quinacridone solid solution pigment. The content A of the carbon black is 8.0×10<SP POS="POST">-2</SP>to 1.6 mass% based on total ink mass.
