<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a developing device capable of always preventing clogging in a suction port and always keeping a stable state of the suction force of the suction port by cleaning the suction port for scattered toner with predetermined timing by a suction port cleaning member. <P>SOLUTION: The developing device includes at least a suction port 38 disposed below a developing sleeve, the suction port having a function of sucking toner scattering from the developing sleeve 34. The developing device also includes a suction port cleaning member 381 disposed at an end of the suction port 38 and a suction port cleaning member operation mechanism 382 that reciprocates the suction port cleaning member 381 in a main scanning direction of the suction port 38.
