<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a luer access device needle connector that allows a clinician to use a fluid flow line without the use of sharp needles. <P>SOLUTION: The needleless luer access connector is disclosed having a septum disposed in a housing. The septum has a proximal portion 21 with a cross section, a medial portion 22 with a cross section smaller than the cross section of the proximal portion 21, and a distal portion 23. A longitudinal slit extends through the septum from the proximal portion 21 to the distal portion 23. The septum and housing are designed so that septum will not be rotated or removed from the housing when the connector is used by a male luer taper.
