<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a guide wire wherein blood vessel selectivity is enhanced by stabilizing shaping of a guide wire distal end part, and wherein safety is improved by making the distal end part of the guide wire flexible. <P>SOLUTION: This guide wire 1 includes a core shaft 2, and a coil body 5 wound around at least a distal end part of the core shaft 2. The core shaft 2 has a flat section part 3 whose cross section is flat inside the coil body 5.
