A support arrangement comprises a foundation 8, 9, and a base 2 which supports a power generating apparatus 6. The base 2 is connected to the foundation 8, 9 by parallel linkage arms 11, 12. This parallelogram linkage allows the base 2 to be recovered to the surface without changing the angle of the base 2 relative to the flow, thus reducing the chance of damage to the base or power generating equipment (figures 2, 3). The linkage arms 11, 12 may extend parallel to the flow direction. There may be a base on either side of the foundation 8, 9 (figure 5-7) in which case the arms 31, 33 may extend perpendicular to the flow direction, and be attached at different distances from a plane parallel to the flow, to form the parallelogram linkage.
