<p>A lubricant grease or oil thickened by a complex of a soap and a Ca salt comprises 74-88% of a lubricating fluid incorporating 3-8% of an isobutylene polymer of mol. wt. at least 8,000-11,000 and 12-26% of a complex comprising a soap and a Ca salt of a 12-hydrostearic acid and a low m.wt. organic acid of less than 5 C, pref. AcOH. The wt. ratio Ca salt : low m. wt. organic acid is 0.4:1-1:1. The addition of the polymer improves the viscosity index of the oil.</p> |
