A video introducer has electrically conducting wires 13 embedded within the wall thickness of a hollow 20 plastics rod 10 or bourgie between an image sensor camera and illumination unit (11, Fig 1) mounted at one end and a low profile electrical connector (14) mounted at the opposite end. The rod 10 and wires 13 are cut away to form two conical or frusto-conical surfaces 33 and 34 on which enlarged elliptical contact surfaces at the ends of each wire are located. The image sensor 11 and connector 14 have matching conical or frusto-conical recesses 22 fitted on opposite ends of the rod 10 and are connected by conductive adhesive between electrical contact pads 23 in its recess 22 and on the ends of the wires 13. |
