[Also in Division H1] A laminated magnetic core 11 comprises a pile of substantially rectangular laminations 12, the pile being deformed over at least part of its length such that the deformed part will fit into a cylinder of smaller diameter than that into which the undeformed pile would have fitted. The laminations may be spot-welded before deformation, and/or bound with an adhesive tape after deformation. The crosssection of the deformed part may be substantially circular (Fig. 2, not shown). The core may be used in an ignition coil, and deformation may be effected in a coining press. |
