A controller 30 for a wind turbine power plant 10 comprising a plurality wind turbines 20 having a rated output power, where the controller comprises a unit for varying the output of the power plant above its rated output in response to at least one of electricity pricing data, power plant age and power plant operator demand. The controller may comprise a store of scheduled changes in the power plant output set point, where the store comprises an output set point for each month of the lifetime of the power plant and where the changes may represent seasonal changes in electricity prices, intra-day changes in electricity prices or age of the power plant. As an input, the controller may receive a real-time price of electricity and a future electricity price, where the controller compares the received price with a pre-stored threshold value and varies the output of the power plant above its rated output if the received price exceeds the threshold value. A method of control is also claimed. |
