<p>Polymerisation is effected in presence of a polybasic carboxylic acid derivative of formula wherein R is an aliphatic, aromatic, alicyclic or araliphatic hydrocarbon residue, X is a halogen-contg. complex anion and m and n are numbers from 2 to 4. The monomers to be polymerised may be cyclic ethers, cyclic formals and/or lactones. Use of the above catalysts (I) or (II) gives "living" polymers having two or more cationic reactive chain ends.</p> |
