<p>Cultivation is pref. carried out in the presence of air at 30-40 degrees C (pref. 34-38C) and pH 5.5-7.0 (pref. 6.0-6.5) in the presence of 5-10% chemically degraded starch. When starch level falls below about 2%, starch is periodically added to maintain level at about 0.1-2%. Protease is obtained after filtration by addition of C1-3 alcohol pref. methanol. It is used in detergents for removal of protein stains. Higher yields are obtained than from Bacillus subtilis.</p> |
