Pyrimidine derivatives of the general formula where R 1 is hydrocarbyl, mercaptohydrocarbyl or alkoxycarbonylalkylthio, or a substituted or unsubstituted amino group, R 2 and R 3 are hydrogen, halogen or hydrocarbyl, at least one being halogen, R 4 and R 5 are hydrocarbyl, X is oxygen or sulphur and m is 0 or 1, are prepared by reacting an appropriate 4- or 5-halo-2-substituted-6-hydroxypyrimidine with an appropriate diester of a halophosphorus acid or thio acid, preferably in the presence of a condensing base and a solvent. The compounds and the salts thereof have pesticidal properties. |
