1,211,401. Mixed polyamide-polyester filaments. KANEGAFUCHI BOSEKI K.K. 26 Jan., 1968 [26 Jan., 1967; 13 Feb., 1967], No. 4156/68. Heading C3R. Mixed filaments are prepared by blending (1) a fibre-forming polyamide, (2) a polyester-ether derived from a carboxylic acid, and optionally (3) a polyester, the amount of polyamide being from 50 to 97% by weight of the total mixture and the weight ratio of polyester to polyesterether being from 0:100 to 95: 5, and spinning and drawing the blend. Suitable polyamides are those containing at least 90 mol. per cent of polycaprolactam or polyhexamethylene adipamide or sebacide and up to 10% derived from another lactam, aminocarboxylic acid or nylon salt. The polyester-ether may be self-condensates of aromatic ,hydroxy acids or their esters, or condensates of aromatic dicarboxylic acids having ether linkages, or esters thereof, with glycols. They may be homo- or co-polyesters. The polyester (3) is preferably a polyethylene terephthalate which may contain up to 10% of different acid or glycol units. |
